Meet Scottie, a 5-year-old beagle mix with a tender heart and a story that will stay with you. Scottie lost his entire world when his beloved owner passed away, leaving him alone in the home until help arrived. Since then, he's been adjusting to the overwhelming changes in his life, and doing his best to be brave. Scottie is understandably cautious around new people and environments. He may bark, retreat, or show signs of fear at first. He needs time, patience, and gentle understanding from someone who will let him move at his own pace. Once he knows he's safe, Scottie has shown glimmers of trust and even knows a couple of cues like "sit" and "paw." One place Scottie has started to feel more like himself is around other dogs. Being around calm, confident canine companions helps him open up and feel more secure. He would do best in a quiet, adult-only home, ideally with another friendly dog to guide him and show him the world isn't so scary.
